Royal Albert Hall invites the public to share memories11:27, 19th May 2017
The Royal Albert Hall (RAH) is calling for people to share their memories of the venue in advance of the 150th anniversary of its completion in 2021.
Launched to coincide with the 150th anniversary of the laying of its foundation stone by Queen Victoria, which took place on 20 May 1867, the RAH’s memories project will gather images, videos and stories from visitors about their experiences, as well as press cuttings, artwork, recordings or any other unusual physical artefacts.
These will be displayed in 2021 as part of the venue’s 150th anniversary celebrations.
The Hall is particularly keen to gather memories of the years 1960-72, for which it holds few archived records.
It is calling for people to submit their memories on Facebook or Twitter, using #RAH150, or on its own website.
