Jessica Dandy wins LBS Bach Singers Prize9:47, 15th November 2017
Contralto Jessica Dandy has won the sixth London Bach Society (LBS) Bach Singers Prize.
The 27-year-old performed recitatives and arias from the solo Cantatas BWV 170 and BWV 35. She plans to use her £2,500 prize money towards travel to and from auditions in the UK and Europe, further lessons with teacher Gary Coward, coaching with Hilary Summers and Catherine Wyn-Rogers, and attendance at further masterclasses.
The runners up were tenor Hiroshi Amako, soprano Rebecca Lea and counter tenor Alexander Simpson, each of whom receives £500.
The jury comprised journalist and author Jessica Duchen, tenor Ian Partridge, baritone Stephen Roberts and baroque oboist Anthony Robson, who also directed Steinitz Bach Players in the final.
