Somm releases complete Vaughan Williams piano music

12:30, 23rd November 2016

Somm Recordings is releasing the first ever recording of Vaughan Williams’ complete piano music on 27 January 2017.

Recorded at the Adrian Boult Hall in Birmingham in March 2015, the disc features Mark Bebbington’s performances of all of the composer’s non-orchestral compositions for piano, including world premieres such as the Introduction and Fugue; for this and a 1947 transcription of Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis, both written for two pianos, he will be joined by Rebeca Omordia.

This is the latest in Bebbington’s series of recordings of British piano music, including the complete piano works of John Ireland, Arthur Bliss and Frank Bridge.
