Royal Birmingham Conservatoire to premiere festive musical

5:11, 5th December 2017

Royal Birmingham Conservatoire is to mark the festive season with the premiere of a new full-length musical.

The Last Christmas Tree has been written by former actress Valerie Hall, and features music composed by her step-grandson, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire postgraduate composition student Joel Hall.

The production features more than 20 Birmingham City University students among its cast and crew. It will be directed by Sam Beech, with Rory Anderson as the musical director.

‘With a full band and uptempo songs, The Last Christmas Tree is the perfect production for this time of year,’ said Joel Hall. ‘The musical mixes larger than life characters alongside subtle comedic moments, ensuring it really is a theatre experience for the whole family to enjoy together.’

The performance will take place at 2pm on 10 December in Royal Birmingham Conservatoire’s Recital Hall. Tickets cost £8 (children and concessions £5.50).
