11:50, 12th December 2017

Coverage of the Glyndebourne Opera Cup on Sky Arts will be presented by Chris Addison and Danielle de Niese.

A documentary about the competition process, including the satellite heats taking place in January in Philadelphia, Berlin and London, will air on 22 March 2018. Televised highlights of the semi-finals will air on 23 March, and the grand final is broadcast live from Glyndebourne on 24 March.

Sky Arts director Phil Edgar-Jones said: ‘In Danielle and Chris we have a mixture of great knowledge, passionate enthusiasm, incredible talent, wit, charm and a desire to open up this wonderful art form and share it with our audience on Sky Arts. We are looking forward to working with them on this lovely vocal adventure.’

The 2018 Glyndebourne Opera Cup will focus on the work of Mozart. The competition will award five prizes, including a top prize of £15,000 for the winner and the offer of a role at one of the leading opera houses represented on the jury within five years.
