Bush Theatre appoints Lauren Clancy

1:30, 23rd December 2017

London’s Bush Theatre has appointed Lauren Clancy to replace Jon Gilchrist as its executive director.

Clancy, who was previously head of marketing at the Shepherd’s Bush theatre, will work alongside artistic director Madani Younis in her new role. Prior to her position at the theatre, she worked at marketing agency AKA, BBC Radio Drama and Brand Events.

‘I have loved the four years I’ve spent at the Bush so far, working alongside Madani and the team to articulate a bold, contemporary, innovative Bush Theatre that speaks up for its community,’ Clancy said of her appointment.

The theatre recently underwent a year-long £4.3m renovation, reopening in March 2017. ‘Now we have a beautifully refurbished home to match our vision, the potential is huge and I’m looking forward to pouring my energy into realising the next lease of the Bush’s life,’ Clancy said.

Chair of the theatre’s board of directors, Simon Johnson, said: ‘I am absolutely delighted and immeasurably proud to see Lauren step up to the executive director role. The Bush Theatre has a well-earned reputation for nurturing and developing new artists and their work, and providing a platform to build their careers.’

Younis added: ‘It is a great pleasure to begin a new chapter with Lauren as our new executive director. As head of marketing, Lauren had huge influence during an important time of growth at the Bush Theatre. I look forward to working with her to further cement the theatre’s place in its new home in Shepherd’s Bush and together shape the future growth of the organisation.’
