Genesis LAMDA Network to offer mentoring to emerging talent

11:50, 26th October 2017

The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) and the Genesis Foundation have announced the launch of a new mentoring programme for emerging talent. The Genesis LAMDA Network seeks to support actors, stage managers and technicians, and it works by pairing a final year student on LAMDA’s BA (Hons) in Professional Acting, Foundation Degree Professional Acting, and Production and Technical Arts with an experienced graduate.

‘So many young artists and technicians entering this industry are focused on landing their first professional job,’ said LAMDA principal Joanna Read of the news. ‘At LAMDA, we equip our students with the skills and knowledge to cultivate long-lasting and fulfilling careers after graduation, and the Genesis LAMDA Network is an important addition to this existing professional preparation programme.’

The support that the mentees will receive will be peer-to-peer, meaning they will have access to a professional connection who offers them advice, exposure and experience with the hope that it will enable them to make the next step on their career ladder. The programme was set up after discussions with Janet Suzman and David Suchet, both LAMDA graduates.
