New choral competition for Midlands choirs

This year, Lichfield Festival launches a new choral competition open to choirs based in the Midlands. 

Applications are now open for the Midlands Choir of the Year Competition, hosted as part of the Lichfield Festival 2020. The competition is open to amateur choirs and singing groups based in the Midlands and the application deadline is 31 March.

As part of the Festival, the semi-finals will take place on 11 July and the finals will be held on the following day in the surroundings of Lichfield Cathedral.

Choirs are being invited to enter from Derbyshire, Herefordshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, Rutland, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, West Midlands and Worcestershire.

To enter, choirs should submit a short recording alongside the application form, which is downloadable from the website. The competition is open to amateur choirs with a maximum of 50 members, over the age of 18.

Qualifying semi-finalists will be informed by 30 April at the latest.
