Spem in alium from Tate Modern

The 450th anniversary of Thomas Tallis’s Spem in alium will be celebrated in a free online concert hosted by Tate Modern, London.

The ORA Singers, conducted by Suzi Digby, will perform Tallis’s renowned 40-part motet in the Turbine Hall, followed by the world premiere of a specially commissioned contemporary 40-part response by Sir James MacMillan, Vidi aquam.

The programme also includes settings of Ave verum corpus by William Byrd and Roderick Williams.

The concert, at 8pm on 16 September, will be livestreamed free online on Tate’s YouTube and Facebook channels.
