Thomas Hewitt-Jones dedicates carol to Sing for Pleasure

3:20, 10th November 2017

British composer Thomas Hewitt-Jones has dedicated a new carol to national choral charity Sing for Pleasure and its CEO Manvinder Rattan.

Come, sing with joy will be premiered at Birmingham Anglican Cathedral on 2 December as part of a concert given by Serafine, the chamber choir conducted by Rattan.

Rattan said: ‘As ever with Thomas’ fine choral writing, the carol is lively, engaging and tuneful, leaving listeners and performers alike with a smile on their faces. His compositions are extremely popular, and I’m very proud that he decided to dedicate this carol to SfP.’

The concert will also include two of Bach’s Advent cantatas, Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland (BWV 62) and Wachet auf (BWV141), accompanied by an early music ensemble, as well a selection of seasonal music, including pieces by Whitacre, Gjeilo and Dubbra. There will be an opportunity for the audience to join in.

Tickets, priced £15 and £10 for concessions, are available in advance online and on the door.
