Applications open for Awards for Young Musicians’ 2020 Awards programme

12:24, 26th February 2020

Awards for Young Musicians has announced that applications are now open for its 2020 Awards programme.

Established in 1998, the programme works to address the financial barriers faced by many talented young musicians by offering individual grants of up to £2,000 per annum to exceptional young musicians whose families are on a lower income.

Funding can be used to go toward musical costs such as tuition, instrument and equipment costs or travel, and is offered alongside tailored individual support catering to personal circumstances, such as mentoring, access to workshops, free concert tickets and performance opportunities.

The support is both inclusive and means-tested, with key criteria being musical talent and financial need. This means that any musician can prove their eligibility regardless of genre, without having to have taken formal exams.

AYM welcomes applications from young musicians playing any genre, from Western classical music and jazz to electronic, pop and folk. The deadline for applications is Monday 27 April.

Further information can be found at www.a-y-m.org.uk/apply.
