Tabea Debus (recorder), Miguel Gorodi (jazz trumpet), Joseph Houston (piano), Hannah Morgan (oboe), Ligeti Quartet, Nérija (contemporary jazz ensemble) and Mihai Ritivoiu (piano) have been selected for the 2016 City Music Foundation Artists programme.
The two-year development scheme aims to equip outstanding musicians with the tools, skills, experience and networks they will need to build a career in music.
CMF artists receive tailored professional development workshops from key industry figures, city institutions and other members of CMF’s network of contacts, with topics covered including tax and financial management, networking, presentation skills, agents, and PR.
The Foundation also provides each artist with a concert or recital as part of its concert series in the City, essential promotional tools such as websites, images and recordings, and help with new commissions to ensure each musician develops a unique niche and selling point.
The artists have day-to-day access to the CMF team, including the artist manager, who works to book as many live performance opportunities for the musicians as possible, and also receive mentoring from senior business figures and artistic guidance from leading musicians with established international careers.
Former CMF artists include pianists Cordelia Williams and Dinara Klinton and the Gildas Quartet.
