Classical musicians recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list

The Queen’s Birthday Honours this year has seen a number of leading figures within the classical music industry receive recognition.

Pianist Joanna MacGregor (pictured), who is currently head of piano at the Royal Academy of Music and artistic director of the Dartington International Summer School & Festival, is appointed CBE in addition to her previous OBE, alongside composer Jonathan Dove and tenor Mark Padmore.

Robin Ticciati, former principal conductor of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and current music director of the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and Glyndebourne Festival, has received an OBE as has musical director Robert Pepper, tenor Alfie Boe, and Capt. David Cole for his services to music and remembrance.

Classical musicians appointed MBE include soprano sisters Mary and Sophie Bevan, and composer Anna Meredith. Leading figures awarded Knighthoods include music director of King’s College Cambridge Stephen Cleobury, Welsh National Opera’s artistic director David Pountney, and founder of Live Music Now Ian Stoutzker.
