Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra’s Stradun Classic festival returns for 2019

11:10, 11th April 2019

Stradun Classic festival, taking place in Dubrovnik and organised by the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, returns this year from 1 – 11 October 2019.

The Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra has organised several festivals and music cycles gathering great public interest in the historical city within the last couple of years, including The International Late Summer Festival Dubrovnik and the International Opera Arias Festival ‘Tino Pattiera’. In 2018, DSO together with renowned Croatian clarinetist Marija Pavlović (Artist-in-Residence) launched Stradun Classic which is now set to return for its second year.

DSO’s idea for Stradun Classic was to hold a top chamber music festival in Dubrovnik with word-class musicians performing in chamber and as soloists, where members of the orchestra also have the chance to perform with guest artists.

This year the festival will feature renowned artists from all over the world including:

  • Mezzo-soprano Renata Pokupić
  • Violinists Vineta Sareika and Daniel Rowland
  • Cellist Monika Leskovar
  • Pianist Martina Filjak
  • Hornists Radovan Vlatković and Boštjan Lipovšek
  • Oboist Tom Owen
  • Bassoonist Pieter Nuytten
  • Double bassist Zoran Markovic
  • Maestros Darrell Ang and Marc Turdue, principal conductor of the DSO

The festival includes a ‘Slavic Evening’ for its first concert, with four other concerts showcasing pieces from Schumann, Klein, Dvořák, D. Pejačević, R. Strauss, Spohr, Grieg, Mozart, Beethoven and Händel.
