J&A Beare acquires WE Hill and Sons

9:48, 23rd March 2017

International violin dealer J & A Beare has acquired W E Hill and Sons, including the Hill accessories line.

Founded in 1887, W E Hill & Sons was a highly respected dealer. The company dissolved in 1992, but David and Andrew Hill have continued to operate as independent dealers.

Simon Morris and Steven Smith, managing directors of J & A Beare, praised W E Hill and Sons as ‘synonymous with quality and expertise’, adding: ‘Now, in our 125th year, Beares is proud to help our clients further by combining the historic resources of Hill’s with our own. Furthermore, this means that the famous Hill accessories will continue to be manufactured and sold as they have been for many years.’

David Hill said he was pleased by the acquisition, describing J & A Beare as ‘a firm with such a good and long-standing reputation for dealing in fine stringed instruments.’
