Jess Gillam to perform at BAFTA Awards4:19, 8th February 2019
20 year-old saxophonist Jess Gillam will take to the stage at London’s Royal Albert Hall this Sunday (10 February) to perform at the prestigious EE British Academy Film Awards.
She will play in front of Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as well as Hollywood’s biggest stars, during the ‘In Memoriam’ section of the ceremony which pays tribute to committed individuals of the film industry who have passed away in the past year. She will be introduced by BAFTA host Joanna Lumley and the ceremony will be televised to millions around the world.
Jess says: ‘I’m really looking forward to performing at the BAFTAs. It’s a real honour to be asked to play at such a special event and it will be amazing to be back at the Royal Albert Hall again.’
Last year, Jess was described as the ‘indisputable highlight’ (BBC News) of the Last Night of the Proms event, and 2019 has already got off to a flying start for her as she made her US debut in Washington DC, as well as being named one of WQXR’s ‘19 for 19’ Artists to Watch. Her debut album is due out on Decca Classics later this year.
