9:36, 7th January 2019

The Guildhall School of Music & Drama has been granted up to £490,000 of Leverhulme Arts Scholarships over the next three years.

This includes scholarship support for postgraduate musicians, as well as students at Junior Guildhall and Centre for Young Musicians. It also includes support for undergraduate musicians and for the school’s Production Arts faculty.

The breakdown of bursaries includes £195,000 for students on Guildhall Artist Masters and Artist Diploma programme, and £135,000 for Guildhall Young Artists, which include Junior Guildhall and Centre for Young Musicians.

Principal Lynne Williams said she was ‘delighted’, adding, ‘we are determined that no student should face financial barriers to studying here, and we can’t do that without the generous support of our donors, in particular the Leverhulme Trust whose commitment to performing arts training is so evident. We are truly grateful for their support.’
