Astral will present the winners of its 2016 National Auditions at its inaugural winners’ concert on 26 October.
The event, which will take place at the Kimmel Center’s Perelman Theatre at 7pm, will feature performances from pianist Congcong Chai, violinist Timothy Chooi, pianist Natalia Kazaryan, violinist Katie Hyun, harpist Emily Levin, pianist Zhenni Li, and the Rolston String Quartet.
All proceeds from the concert will go to Astral’s artistic and community engagement programmes.
Each year, Astral auditions strings, small chamber ensembles, piano, woodwinds and voice candidates for a spot on its roster. Winners receive customised career development mentorship, marketing materials, performance opportunities, community engagement experience, artistic exploration, and networking opportunities with leading figures in the field.
Based in Philadelphia, Astral is a nonprofit, national organisation which supports talented classical musicians early in their careers, providing them with resources, networking opportunities, and entrepreneurial tools.
Astral laureates include soprano Angela Meade, bass-baritone Eric Owens, pianist Simone Dinnerstein, and the Chiara and Jasper string quartets.
