RNCM announces new director of finance11:42, 3rd December 2019
The Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) has announced the appointment of George Whalley as director of finance, beginning on 18 February 2020.
Whalley’s previous experience includes working as head of finance at the University of Manchester’s Alliance Business School, and more recently at Manchester’s centre for contemporary arts, HOME, where he currently works as director of finance and operations.
In his new role at RNCM, Whalley will be responsible for the college’s financial strategy, overseeing the finance and registry departments and the Business Systems Development Unit.
Commenting on his appointment, Whalley says he is ‘incredibly excited’ to be joining RNCM: ‘The RNCM brings together my experience and passion for both higher education and the performing arts. I have always enjoyed visiting the college, so being able to join the team at such a prestigious Manchester institution is a fantastic opportunity.’
Professor Linda Merrick, RNCM principal, added: ‘We are thrilled to be welcoming George to the role of director of finance. As we launch our new strategic plan, it is a very exciting time to be joining the college and I am looking forward to working with him as the RNCM further enhances its position as a leading provider of music education.’
