Royal Academy of Music awards honorary memberships

The Royal Academy of Music has awarded honorary memberships to Hugh Laurie, Imelda Staunton, and Paul Lewis among others.

They joined over 200 students receiving their degrees at St Marylebone Parish Church and the new Susie Sainsbury Theatre at graduation ceremonies this week.

In addition, the academy awarded the degree of Doctor of Music ‘honoris causa’ to composer and conductor Oliver Knussen. Previous recipients include the late Colin Davis, Elton John, Peter Maxwell Davies, Daniel Barenboim and John Adams.
