Shanghai Symphony Orchestra’s Summer Air festival goes ahead1:33, 30th June 2020
The Shanghai Symphony Orchestra (SSO) has announced the programme for the 11th Music in the Summer Air (MISA) festival, which takes place from 20-29 July 2020.
The programme features 17 events taking place both in the Shanghai Symphony Hall and its outdoor ‘Urban Music Lawn’. Following the coronavirus pandemic, international artists are unable to travel to China, so the line-up features China-based musicians, orchestras and conductors.
All the events are open to a limited 30% capacity audience, and a number of the Shanghai Symphony Hall concerts will be performed twice each evening in order for a larger audience to attend.
This year’s programme includes performances by bass-baritone Shenyang, pop star James Li, singer-songwriter Huo Zun and Royal Opera House Jette Parker young artist Hongni Wu, as well as from visiting Chinese orchestras including Kunming Nie’Er Symphony and Guangzhou Symphony.
