St John’s Smith Square re-opens to the public11:36, 15th September 2020
Following a successful pilot concert with a live audience in July, St John’s Smith Square is re-opening to audiences this autumn.
A programme of 63 public concerts and 50 digital events has been planned, as a well as a Christmas Festival (8-23 December), and the inaugural digital Christmas Festival London, which will feature content from the live festival as well as specially created material.
Richard Heason, director of St John’s Smith Square, said: ‘Since we closed our doors at the end of the concert on 16 March we have been focussing our energy and efforts on finding a route back towards live music taking place in St John’s Smith Square once again. We are delighted that we are able now to safely welcome audiences back, albeit in a measured and controlled way, and that we can share the joy of live music.’
To comply with Covid regulations, audience capacity will be limited to 20%, and a one-way system will be in place. All concerts will take place without an interval, and audience members will have their temperature checked before entering the building.
