Ycat finalists prepare for public auditions8:00, 4th April 2018
The Young Classical Artists Trust (Ycat) has named the eight artists who will appear in this year’s public final auditions.
The finalists – who have already progressed through two rigorous selection rounds from an initial 110 applications – will perform a 25-minute recital in front of a jury of industry bigwigs.
Three pianists – Ke Ma, Jonathan Ferrucci and Guiseppe Guarrera – have made the shortlist, as have two violinists, Jonian-Ilias Kadesha and Julia Pusker. Two woodwinders, saxophonist Jonathan Radford and recorder player Tabea Debus, will also perform. Brass quintet A4 is the only ensemble to have been selected.
Ycat supports artists who show they have the potential for a sustained career in classical music. The charity supports a number of musicians over an extended period. Past artists include James Baillieu (2010–14), O Duo (2005–09) and Alison Balsom (2001–04).
The Ycat finals take place at London’s Wigmore Hall on 24 May. The results will be announced on the evening.
