York Early Music is to hold an International Young Artists Showcase during this year’s Christmas Festival.

The 2012 York Early Music Christmas Festival will be held from 6 to15 December. The young artist showcase is set to take place on 1 December. Ensemble Les Ombres will perform ‘Telemann in Paris’, along with a concert from the Borromini Quartet, and Den Haag Piano Quintet performing ‘The Trout Quintet’ by Schubert.

Director of the NCEM Delma Tomlin said: ‘We are absolutely thrilled to welcome back these wonderful young artists who have gone on to carve out their own very special and successful paths in the early music world since taking part in the International Young Artists Competition. The day promises a superbly varied feast of music-making.’

The showcase will also include a screening of documentary ‘Hebreo’: the Search for Salomone Rossi, reviewed in EMT June-August. The film, by Joseph Rochlitz, features Profeti della Quinta – winners of last year’s International Young Artists Competition. Delma Tomlin said: ‘We are delighted to be able to present the UK premiere of Profeti della Quinta’s enlightening documentary.’
