Paloma O’ Shea Santander competition shortlist announced

Madrid-based Paloma O’ Shea Santander International Piano Competition has named the 20 pianists who have been selected to participate in the first stage of the competition.

The event takes place from the 25 July – 5 August at the Palacio de Festivales de Cantabria in Santander. The pre-selection jury (pictured) held auditions for 95 pianists from 34 countries in Paris (13-16 March), New York (20-22 March) and Madrid (2-5 April).

Juan Barahona (Spain); Dmytro Choni (Ukraine); Sara Daneshpour (US); Pierre Delignies Calderón (Spain); Juan Carlos Fernández Nieto (Spain); Kyuho Han (Republic of Korea); Benedek Horváth (Hungary); Rixiang Huang (China); Honggi Kim (Republic of Korea); Ana Kipiani (Georgia); Aleksandr Kliuchko (Russian Federation); Arsenii Mun (Russia); Federico Nicoletta (Italy); Sun-A Park (US); Daniel Rodríguez Hart (Cuba/Spain); Scipione Sangiovanni (Italy); Yutong Sun (China); Alexei Tartakovsky (US/Russia);Lucas Thomazinho (Brazil); and Bocheng Wang (UK) were selected from a total of 241 applicants.

The final, which will take place 3-4 August, features the six finalists performing complete concertos with Symphony Orchestra of Radio Televisión Española. These performances will form part of the 67th Santander International Festival.
