Royal Birmingham Conservatoire to host new piano competition2:15, 23rd January 2018
The first Birmingham International Piano Chamber Music Competition will take place 20-23 November as part of Royal Birmingham Conservatoire’s Piano Chamber Music Festival.
Eight young ensembles will be selected to participate, with each giving a public recital and taking part in masterclasses with leading artists.
The winner will receive £4,000, a commercial recording with Resonus Classics, mentoring from an experienced chamber music artist, and professional engagements at Wigmore Hall, Winchester Chamber Music Festival, Eaton Square Concerts, and Chamber Circle, Brussels.
The other two finalists will each receive £1,500 and a DVD recording of their final performance.
The jury will comprise Resonus Classics founder Adam Binks, pianists Katya Apekisheva, Daniel Tong and John Thwaites, violinist Esther Hoppe, violist Robin Ireland, and cellists Alice Neary and Christoph Richter.
