Scottish International Piano Competition 2017

4:09, 30th September 2016

The next edition of the Scottish International Piano Competition will take place 1-10 September 2017.

Pianists aged 18-30 will compete for the £10,000 first prize, which carries with it the Frederic Lamond gold medal and an invitation to perform with the RSNO in 2018.

Competitors will perform a series of programmes in front of a jury chaired by Professor Aaron Shorr, head of keyboard and collaborative piano at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Three pianists will be selected for the concerto final, in which they will perform alongside the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.

The triennial competition was established in 1986 as a memorial to Frederic Lamond. Previous winners include Sergei Babayan (1992), Katya Apekisheva (1998), Tom Poster (2007) and Oxana Schevchenko (2010).

The closing date for applications is 31 March 2017.
