CPD it up with us at Expo Manchester

9:00, 3rd September 2018

The team behind Music Teacher magazine bring a celebration of music education to the northwest of England, with the return of Music & Drama Education Expo | Manchester on 11 October at Old Trafford. Expect hours of free, high-quality CPD and stimulating debate; hundreds of wonderful colleagues to connect with; and a vast exhibition floor showcasing some of the best products, services and organisations the industry has to offer. We take a look at the show highlights, with the full programme available here.

Practical workshops

Expo is known for making a noise. And rightly so! Make music, hone your performance and improvisation skills, and get to grips with instruments you might not be so familiar with at our all singing, all-dancing practical workshops: Trinity College | Get creative: Exploring improvising in instrumental teaching and Disney’s Aladdin | Spotlight on singing.

Policy, debate and discussion

Expo strives to keep teachers up to date with the changing landscape of arts education, so this year we present a panel debate with leading exam boards in Supporting the 21st-century musician, and take a look at Dr Jonathan Savage’s findings post-MU Education Report (Sept 2017) in his MU | Fixing music education session.

Networking

With 750 lovely colleagues in attendance and representing some of the brightest minds in music education, expect lots of opportunities for making valuable connections and friends. Attending on your own? Perfect! Our wonderful workshop leaders always make an effort to incorporate group work and discussion into their sessions, and slots such as Early years music: Building a community of practice in the North West are specifically programmed to cultivate connections and relationships that flourish beyond the event itself.

Exhibition Floor

Over 80 of the leading brands, suppliers, exam boards, publishers, retailers, institutions and organisations are in attendance. The exhibition floor offers a great opportunity to try and compare products, all in one place, and our friendly exhibitors are on-hand to offer advice. Plus, there are many exclusive show discounts. Don’t forget to invite your drama colleagues who can take advantage of our full drama CPD programme. Just mention ‘Frantic Assembly workshop’ and they’ll be convinced…
