Duchess of Cornwall attends LCO Music Junction rehearsal

2:29, 5th May 2016

The Duchess of Cornwall attended the dress rehearsal of a new work commissioned by the London Chamber Orchestra for Music Junction at the People’s Palace, Queen Mary University of London on 4 May 2016.

I Am You, Brave and Strong, written by Cheryl Frances-Hoad and based on a theme donated by Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, features 130 children aged between nine and 17 alongside members of the LCO.

The children and young people, drawn from 14 schools and organisations across Havering, Waltham Forest, Kent and Berkshire, have participated in workshops for the past six months, but met for the first time at the dress rehearsal.

Established in 2010, Music Junction – the LCO’s education and outreach programme – brings together children and young people from a range of backgrounds, engaging them in learning instruments and creative music in order to raise their confidence and self-esteem.

I Am You, Brave and Strong will receive its premiere at Cadogan Hall on 6 May. Tickets cost £10-£35.
