Learn to Play Day 2020 to take place in March

4:52, 11th February 2020

This year’s Learn to Play Day will take place on 28 and 29 March.

The weekend event, which encourages people of all ages and abilities to try out an instrument and have a go at making music, will see music shops, teachers, venues and schools across the UK partnering with musical instrument manufacturers and brands to offer free music taster lessons.

Paul McManus, CEO of Music for All, the charity behind the event, said: ‘While we all may have different tastes and preferred genres, there is no doubt that music is universally loved around the world. Learn to Play Day is all about spreading the joy of playing a musical instrument and inspiring those of all ages to take up something that will not only have health benefits for the future, but that also brings so many people together.’

The event is being held in partnership with the Musicians’ Union, the Take It Away scheme (which supports instrument purchase) and Making Music (the umbrella organisation for voluntary music groups).
