Nathan Morgan wins 2017 ACM Basca scholarship

2:34, 27th July 2017

Nathan Morgan was announced as the 2017 recipient of the Academy of Contemporary Music’s Basca Scholarship.

He wins a fully-funded place on the three-year songwriting and artist development programme at ACM London, worth up to £27,000.

Morgan was selected by a combination of Basca representatives and ACM tutors following his performance of his original composition ‘Don’t Need You’ at the annual Basca Summer Party, which took place at Camden Proud on 25 July 2017.

The singer-songwriter described himself as ‘chuffed’, adding: ‘I have hardly any words but I thank God and I thank ACM for giving me this opportunity and to BASCA for setting this up, for considering me, let alone choosing me to win this – thank you so much.’

Runners-up Jake Melles and Linda Quero will receive studio time and one-to-one sessions with Kaya Herstad-Carney, ACM’s pathway leader for creative artistry.

Applications are still being accepted for ACM’s September 2017 intake.
