Youth music education charity, NYMAZ has joined forces with MusicTutors and Your Space Music to support teachers delivering online lessons during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The support package will include: live webinars focusing on the technological, pedagogical and practical challenges of teaching online; free resources, such as Covid 19 information for Music Hubs; archived webinars including safeguarding for online tuition, an introduction to teaching music online, safeguarding guidance and online teaching tips; free membership to the NYMAZ remote learning network and access to live music broadcasts which will also include accompanying resources for Key Stage 2, 3, and 4, as well as early years.
The CPD webinars taking place over the following weeks are: An Introduction to Online Music Teaching (Wednesday 8 April, 1 – 2.30pm) and Developing Your Online Teaching Skills for Music Teachers (Monday 21 September, 2 – 3.30pm).
NYMAZ director, Sarah McWatt said: ‘This is a time of deep uncertainty but we’re taking positive steps to enable teachers to continue to provide instrumental tuition particularly now that schools are starting to close. Online lessons will be a real lifeline, ensuring ongoing employment for teachers and skills development for pupils. Music also has an essential role to play in soothing our spirits too.
‘We are here to help and will be listening and responding to the sector’s needs for future resources related to online music tuition and events. We’ll be adding more dates.’
