NYO announces CPD days

5:00, 12th September 2017

Music education hubs, music services, schools and music education professionals are invited to CPD days run by the National Youth Orchestra.

Participants will have the opportunity to openly discuss ideas and develop your skills in nurturing young musicianship by observing rehearsals, tutors, and tonductors, and participating in conducting workshops.

CPD activities on offer are:

  • NYO Inspire Day – an immersive day of orchestral workshops and rehearsals, where NYO Inspire musicians play side-by-side with NYO musicians. Some of these days will include conducting workshops.
  • NYO Inspire Ensembles – three-day residencies in orchestral family groups:
strings, winds, brass and percussion. NYO Inspire musicians work on their musical technique, tackle challenging repertoire, and explore ensemble playing, led by NYO musicians and tutors at the University of Liverpool.
  • NYO Inspire Orchestra – this ensemble is made up of musicians selected from NYO Inspire ensembles and NYO Inspire days. They meet for an in-depth residency before going on tour to secondary schools.
  • NYO Residencies – these focus on complex repertoire in preparation for NYO concert tours. These are the times when the full orchestra of 164 NYO musicians comes together, and dives into sectionals with NYO tutors and rehearsals with rehearsal and guest conductors.
