The Purcell School in Hertfordshire has launched its first International Online Composition Academy for young composers aged 9-18 from around the world.

It will take place on Zoom for three days at three times during the academic year and will enable students to work with the school’s composition teachers, academic music teachers and instrumentalists on their own music, and explore aspects of technique, notation, instrumental writing and concept development.

Overseen by the school’s head of composition and academy director Alison Cox OBE, the academy is £690 per term.

Alison Cox said, ‘Young people will develop their creative musical skills to higher and higher levels, supported by individual and small-group tuition. We extend a warm welcome to those who have already applied and encourage anyone else who is interested to get in touch with us.’
