Sound and Music announce composers selected for HCMF schools project

10:54, 25th July 2017

Three composers have been selected to take part in a new education project designed by Sound and Music in partnership with Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and Heritage Quay.

Tom Lawrence, Julian Brooks, and Eleanor Cully will take inspiration from a set of scores from the 1960s and 1970s called Music for Young Players. The scores are part of the British Music Collection, housed in Heritage Quay’s archive centre in Huddersfield. Intended for classroom use, they aimed to encourage experimental approaches and connections to new music.

The composers will work with children to realise these scores and create original, collaboratively composed companion pieces for performance at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival in November 2017.
