Youth music charity NYMAZ appoints new director

3:24, 13th April 2018

Sarah McWatt has been announced as the new director of youth music charity NYMAZ.

She will be responsible for overseeing the future development of NYMAZ in its mission to make music accessible to all children, regardless of their economic or geographic circumstances.

Her previous experience includes director of education at Music and the Deaf, education roles with Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Opera North, and Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, and event production for Leeds Lieder Festival.

Incumbent director Heidi Johnson recently secured long-term funding arrangements, thereby securing the charity’s future stability.

Speaking of her new role, Ms McWatt said, ‘I am very much looking forward to building upon the wonderful legacy of the work that Heidi Johnson has developed over the last six years, and I aspire to produce further innovative strategies, projects and events to help create an even more musically-inclusive England in the years to come.’

Ms McWatt will take up the post at the end of April.
