National Opera Studio commissions twelve arias for young artists

10:34, 24th April 2018

To celebrate its 40th anniversary, the National Opera Studio has commissioned twelve composers and twelve librettists to collaborate with its young artists in the creation of twelve contemporary audition arias.

Known as ‘12:40’, the project will give the young artists the opportunity to work as part of a creative team, and will provide them with a selection of pieces that they can take forward into their professional careers.

The arias will be performed on 14-15 June at Hoxton Hall, a restored music hall in the heart of Shoreditch.

The National Opera Studio will be working in partnership with London-based opera company Second Movement on the project.

12:40 is supported by the Nicholas John Trust.
