BBC New Generation Artist wins Wolf Lieder Prize

Turkish-Austrian tenor Ilker Arcayürek took first prize in tenth the International Art Song Competition of the Hugo Wolf Akademie.

He wins €15,000 (£13,000) to be shared with his pianist, Fiona Pollak.

Second prize went to tenor Stuart Jackson (piano: Jocelyn Freeman), and third to baritone Samuel Hasselhorn (piano: Renata Rohlfing, who won the prize for best pianist).

Arcayürek is a BBC New Generation Artist 2015-17. He was a member of the Staatstheater Nürnberg ensemble during 2015/16, and was a finalist in the 2015 Cardiff Singer of the World Competition.
