English Touring Opera reveals autumn season8:47, 17th July 2018
English Touring Opera (ETO) has revealed its autumn tour dates, running from 6 October to 28 November.
The tour includes 31 performances at 19 different venues across England. On each project the ETO will work with its partner orchestra, the Old Street Band.
- Handel’s Radamisto, conducted by Peter Whelan and directed by James Conway
- A triple bill of Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Carissimi’s oratorio Jonas, and a selection of Gesualdo’s Madrigals and Music for Tenebrae
- Bach’s St Matthew Passion, in collaboration with over 23 different choirs at 11 venues
- Five ‘opera in a day’ workshops at secondary schools across the country
ETO’s general director James Conway said: ‘English Touring Opera’s relationship with the Old Street Band has led to a number of remarkable seasons of baroque music- and drama-making, the like of which our old selves would never have thought possible.
‘We have found, and we have been able to renew, a strong and critical audience for masterpieces acknowledged and forgotten, and their trust has enabled us to make some bold choices.’
