Part of Florence’s ReGeneration Festival (presented by New Generation Festival and the Uffizzi Galleries), this socially-distanced Rossini Cenerentola – with the added frisson of dramatic lightning with the threat of a storm –  was a glistening triumph. Performed within Florence’s glorious Boboli Gardens, the youthful and carefully chosen cast included the charismatic Svetlina Stoyanova as Angelina (the Cinderella of the title)and Josh Lovell revealing himself as a born Rossini tenor in the role of Don Ramino. The Orchestra Senzaspine was conducted by Sándor Károlyi in a performance that confirmed Cenerentola as a true Rossini masterpiece.
