3:16, 3rd October 2017

Sky Arts, the official UK broadcast partner of the Glyndebourne Opera Cup, is offering a bursary to cover travel expenses to the preliminary rounds of the competition for applicants from black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds.

Applications for the inaugural Glyndebourne Opera Cup close on 25 November 2017. The application form will give applicants the opportunity to identify their ethnicity and to indicate whether they wish to be considered for a bursary.

The Glyndebourne Opera Cup is designed to highlight talented young singers from around the world. The overall winner will receive a top prize of £15,000 and the guarantee of a professional role within five years at one of the leading international opera houses represented on the competition jury.

Preliminary rounds will take place in January 2018 in Philadelphia, London and Berlin. The latter stages of the competition take place on the main stage at Glyndebourne in March 2018, where the finalists will be accompanied by the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.

Sky Arts will broadcast the competition with a dedicated tv series, capturing every stage of the competition.
