Owen Mortimer

Managing Editor; Editor, International Piano Department: Editorial Biography

Owen Mortimer is the Editor of International Piano magazine and Associate Editor of Opera Now magazine. He has also written for Classical Music, Music Teacher, Songlines and Le Cahier Export UK. In 2007, Owen was one of the founding editors of On Stage, the in-house magazine of India’s National Centre for the Performing Arts. Owen was based in India from 2007 to 2011 where he served as the founding director of the Rajasthan International Folk Festival (RIFF). He went on to manage a multi-city tour of India by the LPO Renga Ensemble, and since returning to the UK in 2011 has supported a series of music tours to India, including the 2015 national premiere of Verdi’s Requiem by members of the Bournemouth Symphony Chorus. Owen studied music at Oxford and plays the piano and French horn. He is a trustee of Second Movement, a London-based opera company that specialises in new work by young composers.
