John Paul Ekins, stand-in performer
John Paul Ekins graduated in 2009 from the Royal College of Music with First Class Honours, studying under John Barstow. In the same year he was awarded the James Anthony Horne Scholarship by the Guildhall School of Music and Drama to study with previous Rhinegold LIVE artist Charles Owen, graduating from there with Master’s of Performance (Distinction) in 2011.
Since then Ekins has performed worldwide at such prestigious venues as the Wigmore Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell Room, St Martin in the Fields, Brimingham’s Symphony Hall, Bucharest’s Athenaeum and Zürich’s Tonhalle. His concerto highlight thus far has been his 2013 debut at The Royal Albert Hall, where he performed Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue alongside Southbank Sinfonia.
