The National Theatre has revealed record-breaking takings of £80 million. The figure is more than double what the theatre made a decade ago. The period covering March 2011 to March 2012 saw National Theatre productions play to 2.3 million people.

War Horse continued its success, bringing in more than £15 million of box office revenue at the New London Theatre for the National.

One Man, Two Guvnors was another success story, with more than 300,000 people seeing the play world-wide in this year alone. It was also the most-successful screening of the National Theatre Live’s collection, with over 50,000 visitors going to the cinema to see it.
